Amazing Illusion

If you watch the images attached below from your seat in front of the computer, Mr.Angry is on the left, and Mrs.Calm is on the right. Get up from your seat, and move back a couple of feet (or perhaps more than that), and PRESTO!!they switch places!! I believe this illusion was created by Phillippe G.Schyns and Aude Oliva of the Univ. of Glasgow. This proves that we may not be seeing what's actually there, all the time!! I do not know how they generated this fascinating image, and I believe no-one else is able to generate anything similar in Photoshop. I know it has something to do with "low-pass" and "high-pass" filters, but the details?? Enjoying :-) Via CSS Forums

Further more, the concept of High pass and Low pass filters is strictly related to Resistive, Capacitive and Inductive electronic circuits – which are used to pass or block the voltage signals of different frequencies. For example: Signals used for communication systems … In your
Radio set there is a Pass band filter and a Low pass filter with a local oscillator set at 455 kHz. Your TV Set also works on the same phenomenon.

Regarding software filters, yes they do exist and are used professionally for image processing. If you are familiar with MATLAB, there are different filters available for image enhancement just like Salt and Pepper, Gaussian filter etc etc. The term ‘frequency of colors’ is often mixed with frequency of signals. So don’t mix it.

Here in this pic, two images are super-imposed over each other and it is simply a matter of viewing it from two different focal lengths by varying distance!

Any confusion? Don’t hesitate to ask.
